    Volunteer Opportunity

    with Ann Arbor Public Schools!

Are you interested in participating more with the local community?  Do you have students in the Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS) district?  AAPS is forming a new Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Group.  As design professionals, AIA Huron Valley members have been asked to volunteer as Advisory Group Members!

    Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Group:

This Environmental & Sustainability Advisory group will work with the Executive Director of Facilities and Operations to make recommendations in the development of an AAPS Environmental Sustainability Plan, including consideration of all the impacts of district decisions over the short and long term.

    AAPS Advisory Groups:

These groups represent a wonderful opportunity to lend your thinking to district work going forward. The groups will meet during April through June, and will also plan to resume their work beginning in Fall, 2018.

Groups will meet once or twice per month (summer meetings optional) dependent on the delivery of work, and will complete work leading to recommendations to the Superintendent and the Board of Education.

Thank you for considering this opportunity!  If you are interested in participating in this Advisory Group, please submit an application by Friday, March 23, 2018.

Thanks in advance for supporting our local community and youth!

    Michael Lee Quinn

    March 19, 1947 - January 25, 2018

It is with deep sadness that the American Institute of Architects, Huron Valley Chapter announces the passing of one of our members and friends, Michael Lee Quinn, FAIA.  Co-founder of Quinn Evans Architects and long-time champion of historic preservation and urban revitalization, Michael passed away on January 25, 2018. He was 70 years old.

Michael was one of the nation’s most accomplished and respected architects.  His expertise in historic preservation and restoration was instrumental in the widespread growth and impact of this important field.  Last September, the AIA Huron Valley Chapter presented Michael with our Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2018 Honor Award Celebration.  This award was in honor of Michael’s contributions to the profession.  “Michael’s career of over 45 years has left indelible impressions not just through the buildings he helped to create, but through the lives of people he has inspired through his decades of mentoring and leadership.” (AIA Huron Valley Awards jury)
