The University of Michigan Taubman College Urban and Regional Planning Program is pleased to present:

Rüdiger Krisch, an architect, city planner, and teacher of Urban Design at the Nürtingen College of Economics and Ecology participating in the Ann Arbor/Tuebingen Sisters exchange program to give a talk about current issues in housing and housing-related urban planning in Germany.

Germany is facing great challenges regarding (among others) demographic and social changes, which bear heavy influences on the housing market. Those challenges are being addressed on several levels, from public policy to innovative housing types. Herr Krisch would address regulatory, financial, and architectural initiatives that encourage and support sustainable design and development in Germany and discuss private and public initiatives that might encourage and support better design and may be applicable in the United States as well.

For nearly half a century there has been a strong connection and friendship between the two cities of Ann Arbor and Tübingen / Germany. The official partnership was founded in 1965, followed by many official and private contacts between the citizens of both cities.
