AIA Huron Valley is pleased to join with the Masonry Institute of Michigan to present a Continuing Education Lunch and Learn Event on Wednesday January 16th from noon to 1 PM:  "Single Wythe Masonry Walls Meeting the Energy Code"

Location: Quinn Evans Architects, 219 1/2 North Main Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104

Continuing Education: This presentation is accredited for 1 total LU/HSW continuing education credit. 

Event Description:

  • Lunch and Learn Event from noon to 1 PM with presentation and lunch provided by MIM

Learning Objectives:

  • This presentation will show how single wythe masonry can meet the current energy code with the use of COMcheck.

    Learning Objectives:

    1. Learn about the different concrete masonry units that can be used to design single wythe walls:  conventional units, A and H shapes, and specialty units.
    2. Learn the prescriptive requirements in the current energy code for masonry walls in Zone 5.
    3. Learn about the industry tools available to assist designers in determining R-values and U-factors for various masonry walls.
    4. Using a sample project, learn how to use the COMcheck software to meet the current energy code requirements when designing a single wythe masonry wall.

Cost: FREE for AIAHV Members, Associate Members and Students, $20 for Non-Members
