  • Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center

Grassroots 2016 is the premier annual gathering for leaders of the American Institute of Architects. It is an essential Professional Development resource for those who want to become better civic and chapter leaders.

Share your vision and voice and make a difference in Detroit, where a new revitalization movement has swept the city.

Grassroots 2016 takes place at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center, beginning officially on Wednesday, February 24 and ending on Thursday, February 25 by 3:00 p.m. If you arrive early, please join us for a Welcome Reception on Tuesday from 5:00–7:00 p.m. in the hotel.

This year’s event will be a one-of-a kind experience for YOU. Participants will come away with:

  • Creative ideas and thoughts on how to meet some of the challenging economic, social and cultural issues facing cities.
  • Knowledge, resources and tools that you can implement in your component, firm and local government.
  • Essential leadership skills that can help you in your leadership position.
  • Contacts and lasting friends who you can continue to share and exchange information and best practices.
  • An understanding of your role in transforming the organization into one that is valued by the public through networking, peer to peer dialogue and programs.
  • Inspiration and motivation that will empower you to move forward.
