A Chapter of the American Institute of Architects
The Huron Valley Chapter of the AIA is ending.
Yes, you read that correctly. By sometime next year, the structure of the AIA Huron Valley Chapter as we know it today will be completely different. As part of a national effort, AIA chapters nationwide are being asked to restructure themselves to provide additional services, in a more uniform way. AIA National has prescribed an array of necessary requirements that all chapters must meet in order to remain a chapter and retain national funding. AIAHV does not currently meet all of these requirements; nor does any other chapter in Michigan. This means that AIA Michigan and all of its component chapters will be reorganizing or restructuring to provide these services. The outcome of these changes will be up to us as an organization, but change we must.
Please join us for a very important meeting and picnic on Sunday, July 12th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm to discuss what this means for AIAHV in 2016 and beyond. This will be a one-time transformation that will indelibly shape the chapter for the future, so please come out and enjoy an afternoon with us. The chapter will provide the food and beverages, you just need to provide your input. Bring your priorities for the chapter and your thoughts about the future; we need all the help we can get. AIA Michigan President Jeff Ferweda will also be present to discuss the transition and answer questions. Reach out to a colleague or two and bring them along to join in the food and conversation!
